End Of The Year Wellness Tips & Superfood Overload!
Yes, another year has passed and we are another year healthier, thanks to all the wonderful superfood choices we made in 2016!
In past articles I’ve discussed different types of Superfoods: nutrient-rich foods considered to be especially beneficial for our health and well-being. Superfoods are great as beauty boosters also. Consider adding these superfoods to your daily meal plan in 2017 to super charge your beauty regimen and boast your energy.
Superfoods I love that promote organic beauty.
Breakfast: Turkey and Spinach Omelet
Beauty Benefits: Skin & Hair
This is my zinc boosting breakfast choice. Turkey, spinach, and eggs all contain Zinc, which is a mineral that has many beauty benefits. Turkey helps with maintaining collagen elastin fibers for firmness and smoothness of the skin. The healthiest variety of turkey in your local grocer would be roasted or smoked. Flavored turkey, such as honey turkey, typically contains sugar and salt additives.
Spinach and other green leafy vegetables are loaded with Vitamins A, B, C, E, and K, as well as vital minerals which are great for your skin. The vitamin K and folate in spinach is effective in minimizing acne, skin bruising, and dark circles. The vitamin B protects your skin from the harmful ultra violet rays that cause sun damage and pre-mature ageing.
Eggs are also beneficial to skin, hair, and nails. Eggs have lutein and protein, which are helpful in skin hydration and elasticity. Your hair is made of protein so the protein in eggs gives your hair strength as well as luster.
Beauty Benefits: Nails & Teeth
One cup of low-fat yogurt has more calcium than a cup of fat-free milk. The calcium is great for your nails and teeth. Mix it with berries for a boost of antioxidants for your skin.
Beauty Benefits: Legs, Booty, Hair, Skin, & Teeth
Spinach is so great for beauty that I had to mention it twice. You may not know that spinach is especially beneficial to your butt and legs. The vitamin C and iron found in this vegetable are necessary for collagen metabolism, which keeps your skin-tight and firm resulting in a better-looking booty and legs.
Walnuts are good sources of potassium, omega 3, omega 6, and omega 9 fatty acids. All these ingredients strengthen the hair follicles for longer, stronger hair.
Apples are known for helping to treat acne. Also the malic acid in apples can actually whiten teeth by dissolving stains from the surface, which is why it’s commonly used in commercial teeth whitening products.
Snack: Smoothie with Chia Seeds
Beauty Benefits: Skin
It’s winter so you’re probably experiencing dry and cracked skin. Lotions will only help so much. Getting a great source of omega-3 fatty acids will help keep your skin moisturized from the inside out. Chia seeds are one of the best sources of omega-3s.
Beauty Benefits: Hair & Skin
If you want longer and stronger hair, add this chowder to your meal plan once a week. Salmon is full of protein, omega-3 fatty acids, iron and B-12. These vitamins and minerals will add shine, prevent dry scalp and improve hair growth! It’s also known to decrease clogged pores that lead to acne and avert fine lines and wrinkles.
The beta carotene found in sweet potatoes convert to vitamin A once in the body. Vitamin A is necessary for cell growth, including your hair and helps to moisturize your scalp to minimize dandruff.
Broccoli is a major source of vitamins A and C. These vitamins help produce sebum, a scalp oil that acts as a natural hair conditioner.
