My October Street Style

Street Style October

My October Street Style.

I’m head over heels for October’s denim street style. There are a myriad of fabulous denim ideas this fall, and just not enough time and places to rock them all. Whether I’m dressing for a super casual day around the office, or ‘swanking’ it up for a night on the town, denim is my go to staple. This season, the biggest rave about denim comes from pieces that aren’t traditionally made from the fabric. Personally, I’m loving the rompers, unstructured purses, and baseball caps.

All things considered, my new favorites are edgier denim trends: they breathe life into my existence. No secret, I love reworked, ripped, and ragged denim. And, oh-lala, I’ve discover a new favorite pair. Not only am I checking for the shorter lengths, but I adore the extra holes + more weathered feel. They’re my trump card:  sexier and ‘spunkier’ than my others. Shamefully, I’ve been grabbing them every few days, but of course, I’m playing with a variety of  tops. I like the basic white, black, and cream tees with a tailored, below the waist blazer. The look is clean, easy to pull together, and rather fab with a statement necklace.  Alternatively, I opt for the tee + blazer + scarf combo as the weather calls for layering. Then, I snag a pair of army green (sizzling color this fall) suede, pumps or a strappy- metallic peep toe (super sexy) to top it off.

The Street Style That Didn’t Have Me At ‘Hello’.

I have to admit, when I initially tried the off the shoulder tops (rampant this season and last) which have dominated street style the last few months, I wasn’t feeling it for my brand. I’m not sure if I had to get accustomed to exposing the scar on my right shoulder, or perhaps, the first few cuts I tried just didn’t flatter me. Either way, I found a basic cotton, white off the shoulder number, I’m now crazy about. I first rocked her out with extremely tattered, worn, boyfriend shorts, accessorizing the look with white converse, big gold hoops and mixed metal arm-candy.  Loved it! In Chicago we’ve had a few warm days this week, so I woke up and without giving it a thought,  grabbed my  fav ripped jeans. I topped them off with the off the shoulder, white top, I’ve found to be a great alternative for my go to staple: a basic white,  button down.  Any ‘whoo’- the look is simple, clean and a whole lot of fun. I scooped my favorite neutral, So Kate, gold-rimmed Ray Bans and got in my ‘Can’t tell me nothing’ zone.
