The Art Of Promoting Your Personal Brand

Promoting Your Personal Brand

Promoting Your Personal Brand + Sharing Your Brilliance.

You know that your brand is how other’s perceive you and those perceptions will directly influence how those people will interact with you. You understand better than most the unique set of capabilities,  persona, and core values that shape your identify and influence the majority of things in your life. But did you know that your personal brand is one of the biggest factors affecting your level of personal and career success? It is, so with a clear understanding of who you are, the services you’re offering to the people you serve (your target market), and the confidence to go out into the world and achieve your dreams – start promoting your personal brand to as many people as possible.

Consider these branding tips to help you maximize promoting your personal brand:

  • Own your name, or brand affiliation. This is so simple and I wish I’d thought about this years before I did.  If you haven’t, stop right now and reserve your own brand name on the web and through social media channels. Whether you are branding your name for your personal branding strategy, a company’s name or an affiliate association, make sure the name your reserve is the name that you will be building your personal brand upon now and any brand extensions you may potentially add in the future.
  • Determine what is going to be personal and what is business. In the world of personal branding you are your own CEO.  While you’re responsible for determining the most appropriate ways to integrate your business and personal life.  Some industries have a more conservative corporate culture; while, others are more liberal. Know the standards for your industry and play within the parameters of those guidelines.  Even if you have a website and social media accounts for your business or blog establish your own personal online accounts . Even if you’re not ready to build them out yet,  the more established your personal brand identity is online the better position you’ll place your overall personal brand in. The Internet and social media offer unlimited potential to reach and connect with as many people in your target market as possible, for little to no cost.
  • Stay aware of your impact and maximize it through networking strategically both traditionally and through your social media. Being considered an expert in your field by being good at what you do gives you a great personal branding foundation.  Yet you have causes that are important to you and issues that you strongly support. The personal things that resonate with and are important to you are what makes your brand unique and brings depth to your brand story.  Use speaking engagements, networking opportunities, social media, and your network to  share not only your professional accomplishments but also your involvement in social and/or political issues to build buzz about your  brand. Keep people in the loop with what you’re doing will prevent your market and those you’re seeking to stay connected with to wonder what you’ve been up to. Remember-the whole concept of branding is to differentiate people, products, and services from others in the marketplace they’re competing with. So the more you’re able to promote your personal brand the more defined and memorable you’ll become to the people you looking to influence.

What efforts are you taking in promoting your personal brand in 2017?
